Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is why Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
